Beyond Medicine: Where Do We Go From Here?

Just about everyone knows that there has got to be more to the management of ADHD than medication. Pills don't give skills." Studies of non-medication based therapies, however, have found little lasting benefits from the cognitive and behavioral methods that have been tried thus far. This presentation will explain what was missed in previous therapies and what might work in the therapies currently in development.
We have had the best present at our conferences—Amen, Hallowell, Ratey, Nadeau. No presenter has been as well received as Dr. Dodson. People who heard his general presentation in the morning, rushed to pay the additional $75 to attend his advanced seminar in the afternoon.
Beyond the Medical Model: Living Triumphantly with ADD

If we see ADD not as a disease but as a problem of incomplete development in child or adult, we can create conditions that will help promote development in ourselves or others. Beyond symptom control, participants will learn how to support their own development so that ADD need not be a crippling constraint on their personal and professional lives.
Dr. Gabor presents a different viewpoint for explaining the cause of ADHD and what can be done to imrpove the lives of those with this disorder. People who heard both Dr. Dodson and Dr. Mate said they were both thought–provoking and presented a nice balance of information.

What is It, What Causes It, and How is it Best Treated?
Dr. Jensen is the Director of the Center for the Advancement of Children‘s Mental Health and Professor of Child Psychiatry at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Before coming to Columbia University, Dr. Jensen was the Associate Director of Child and Adolescent Research at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). While at NIMH Dr. Jensen served as the lead NIMH investigator on the six–site NIMH and Department of Education–funded study of Multimodal Treatment of ADHD (the MTA Study). This presentation is rich with research and demonstrates Dr. Jensen‘s deep understanding of ADHD and its ramifications.
