Headlining this one–day event is Thomas Brown, Ph.D. a nationally recognized ADHD authority from Yale University.In addition, we are excited to bring together 12 top local physicians, psychologists, therapists, coaches, professional organizers and other ADHD specialists who have volunteered to share their extensive ADHD knowledge in our afternoon breakout sessions.

While the ADHD professionals attend the advanced seminar with Dr. Brown in the afternoon, everyone else has the choice of attending two of twelve breakout sessions. Saturday Morning: ADHD and the Brain's Management System

Part I: How Can High IQ Individuals Have ADHD?" (8:45 a.m.–10:00 a.m.

Describe how someone can focus very well on tasks that interest them, but have great difficulty focusing on many other tasks they recognize as important.

Learn About Dr. Thomas Brown

Dr. Brown is a clinical psychologist who received his Ph.D. from Yale University and maintains a private practice in Hamden, CT. specializing in assessment and treatment of high-IQ children, adolescents and adults with ADD and related problems. He is an Asst. Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine and is Associate Director of the Yale Clinic for Attention and Related Disorders.

Dr. Brown has presented papers, workshops and symposia at national meetings of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, National Association of School Psychologists, American College of Nurse Practitioners, International Neuropsychological Society, the National Attention Deficit Disorder Association and CHADD (Children and Adults With ADHD).

In response to invitations, Dr. Brown has given lectures, workshops or grand rounds at hospitals, medical schools, colleges and universities, independent schools, public school systems, and at advocacy, business and professional groups throughout the United States.

He has also presented workshops at international meetings of professionals in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Venezuela.

For his research and teaching about ADHD Dr. Brown received an award of honor by the National Attention Deficit Disorder Assn. He has been inducted into the CHADD Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions to research and professional education about ADHD in children and adults.

Dr. Brown's research interests and publications include assessment and treatment of ADD, especially in persons with high IQ; executive function and memory impairments in ADD; overlap of ADD and learning disorders, use of combined medications for ADD comorbidities, and problems of sleep and awakening in ADD.

He has served on the Professional Advisory Board for national CHADD and for the National Attention Deficit Disorder Association. He has published articles in professional journals and is author of the Brown Attention Deficit Disorder Scales for Children, Adolescents and Adults published by PsychCorp. He is editor of Attention Deficit Disorders and Comorbidities in Children, Adolescents and Adults, a major text and reference work published by American Psychiatric Press. His new book, Attention Deficit Disorder: The Unfocused Mind in Children and Adults was published by Yale University Press in September, 2005.

Prices

Price through midnight, Sunday, October 7th is $25 for members of ADD Resources and $50 for non–members. (You can decide to join when registering for the conference—learn about the benefits of membership.) After October 7th you will need to register on–site for $65. You can also choose to attend only the morning session for $15 for members and $25 for non-members.

Daily Schedule at a Glance

In the morning, all conference participants will gather in the auditorium for the 2.5–hour major presentation (8:30–10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m.–11:45 noon). After lunch on your own, choose two from twelve 75–minute breakout sessions offered in various classrooms.. These breakout sessions focus on teaching skills in specific areas and allow for group interaction. Finish the day by attending a panel discussion held in the auditorium. Note: Those paying the additional fee to attend the afternoon advanced seminar with Dr. Brown will meet for three hours—from 12:45 p.m.–2:15 p.m. and continuing from 2:45–4:15 p.m. Register soon to reserve your spot.
