Individuals with ADD and/or Learning Disabilities— At Risk

Presented by Marcee Kueckelhan

Objectives:

  1. Learn why youth with learning disabilities (LD) and Attention deficit Disorder (ADD) are over-represented in the juvenile justice system, substance abuse programs, foster care system, and other high risk categories.
  2. Brain etiology and behavioral manifestations of LD and ADD will be provided with practical consultation on intervention methods and service delivery problems.


Marcee Kueckelhan has worked with youth and family social services for the past six years. three of those years have been spent at the Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) of Washington, where she currently works as the Director of Program Development and performs as the lead facilitator for the Choices Program— a social skills and anger management program for at-risk youth. Marcee has also worked as a Behavior Intervention Specialist in the South Kitsap School District and has worked with Intensive Family Preservation Services providing therapeutic services and crisis response to some of the highest risk youth and families in Pierce County. Marcee has a BA in sociology from Central Washington University and is currently working on her MA in School Counseling.
