Aug 31, 2012 · okay, so ive checked out multiple forums and none of their advice has helped me. This is where i stand. i just recentally installed ubuntu from a disk. the install went fine. went i went to reboot my computer it shows the ubuntu wallpaper, then goes to a black screen saying "localhost login". i dont think i put a password on my user when i installed.

May 25, 2012 · Login means just that. You can login to root or to a user name when using Ctrl+Alt+F1. It shuts down X and is a different run level than the normal console. You can't login to localhost. Ctrl+Alt+F7 will take you back to your desktop. I use Ctrl+Alt+F1 everyday to get out of X and run scripts.
