Facebook Approvals Google Authenticator Login

May 12, 2011 · Today, we’re announcing our newest opt-in security feature that I’ve worked to build over the past few months: Login Approvals. As more individuals and businesses turn to Facebook to share and connect with others, people are looking to take more control over protecting their account from unauthorized access.

When you turn on two-factor authentication, you're asked to choose either text message (SMS) codes or a third-party authentication app as your primary security method.A third-party authentication app (such as Google Authenticator or LastPass) can be used to generate login codes that help us confirm it's you when you log in from a new device for the first time.

The 3rd one is the code generator similar to Google Authenticator. Indeed we can use Google Authenticator to get this code ^^, as @Sathya has mentioned in his answer. Important: If any sites prompt you to use Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication, note that you can always substitute the Authy 2FA app instead. Although they work in similar ways, Authy is more feature-rich and allows for multi-device syncing, cloud-backups, and easier account recovery should you change or lose your phone or device.
