Since you've emptied your cache and deleted cookies (hopefully) the problem lies with Facebook or the antivirus software you're using.. For example, I use AVG and I've noticed if I click on some news items in Facebook which take me to another site, my computer freezes up too, but only for around 30 seconds, then it's ok again and the page opens.
