Filezilla Interactive Login Type

Interactive: FileZilla asks for the password, and asks again for every new connection to the server. Account: Selecting this enables the "Account" field in the bookmark's settings. This logon type is for FTP only; SFTP does not have support for it. Key file: Selecting this enables the use of ssh keys for authentication. This logon type is for SFTP only.

Sep 18, 2015 · I was instructed to changed that to "Interactive" in which I did and was prompted for the password and connected fine. Why would this have changed? Was something else done on the account besides a password change that would force me to use the Logon Type "Interactive" now? I just don't know enough about the Secure FTP Account set-up.

In the profile settings in the Site Manager of the FileZilla client. If the SFTP Protocol is specified, it is possible to specify the Logon Type as "Key File" and specify the location of the private key file (in putty's .ppk or openssh's .pem format) The user is prompted for the key file's password...

This is still the case for FileZilla 3.5.3. It seems as if FileZilla does not store the password for "interactive" logon mode, even though that option is ticked. As a work-around, you can use "Ask for password" until this issue is solved.

I added the config file in the \.ssh directory and then back in the site manager in filezilla I selected "Interactive" as the logon type, as that one was the option where a password prompt wasn't required. After selecting "connect", it seems to have connected to the server; however, I'm not sure if the keyfile was even used for authentication How can I tell if the keyfile was used ...

FileZilla can remember the password during the current session if you tick the box (see screenshot below). Use this option if you, for example, use FileZilla on a public computer. When you select Interactive, you are prompted to enter the password every time you upload a file to your hosting server. Not a very useful option.
