Fingerprint Domain Login

May 16, 2018 · For Windows 10 users connected to a domain, it seems the fingerprint unlock and PIN login has stopped working. When users go to the Settings app to enable fingerprint and PIN login, the options are greyed out. There’s a pretty simple fix for this but it involves editing the Windows registry.

This solution details how to enable domain user logons to a specific computer using a biometric fingerprint reader. This was written because there was a need to do this using a Lenovo X1 Carbon, but it can be used on any Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 computer that uses Biometrics.

Jul 03, 2013 · I've tried removing the fingerprint association and still can't do it. A user that doesn't setup the fingerprint it up is able to change their password using this method though. If the password expires and they need to change it upon logon it allows them to enter a new password, but not after logging on.

If he enabled the following GP setting Computer Confguration / Administrative Templates / System / Group Policy / Turn off Local Group Policy objects processing, Local Group Policy settings will be ignored by your system.In this case you have to ask the GP admin for the domain to help you out.

Is this true? If so, this seems ridiculous... I understand the user's domain password would have to be encrypted locally for a fingerprint to be translated to the password, however, I don't want to allow pins for login. If a user's fingerprint login doesn't work, I'd prefer to revert to password login …
