Dedicated to providing access to affordable, quality health care, the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) oversees the state's Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids®, Planning for Healthy Babies, and Medicaid Waiver programs. It also manages the State Health Benefit Plan and works to improve access to health care in rural and underserved areas.

The Georgia Medicaid Management Information System (GAMMIS) serves as the primary web portal for Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids® and all related waiver programs administered by the Department of Community Health's Medical Assistance Plans Division.

Kathleen E. Toomey, M.D., M.P.H., was appointed commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Health by Governor Brian Kemp in March 2019. As commissioner, Dr. Toomey oversees 159 county health departments in 18 health districts, and various public health programs.
