Gmail Not Letting Me Log In

I just tried to login, using the correct password, and got a message that my device was not recognized, so I had to answer a security question. The security question had to do with my frequent flyer number. I know I did not set up this security question because I do not have a frequent flyer number. I never would have set up such a question.

Gmail won't let me login to my account even though I have the password, citing 'suspicious activity' ... I have specified when I made the account and the last time I was able to log in. Regardless of how many I answer, google WILL NOT LET ME IN MY ACCOUNT.

Unfortunately Tbird is no good for Gmail anymore so beware of being able to work around the system options to make it work. I have noticed that most if not all competing email clients to Google are listed as unsecure, and wonder if the Chrome browser with built in client is the only option available now?
