http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Enabling_Root_User_For_GNOME_Display_Manager

By default, from Fedora 10 onwards, the root user is not allowed to login via the GNOME Display Manager (GDM) by default. Logging in as root in the graphical environment is typically problematic, not necessary and not recommended at all for security reasons.Furthermore, it is easy to accidentally trash your system when using your system with full elevated privileges and administrator access.

https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/46868/how-to-operate-as-root-in-gui

At this point what I have to do is open up the terminal, switch to root using su, navigate to that directory and then list the contents using ls. This is really tiresome and annoying. Wouldn't it be convenient if you could just right click on a directory or program in the GUI itself and have an option like Open as Root or Run as Root?
